Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chandauli was established in the year 2005 by ICAR under the auspices of NDUAT, Kumarganj, Faizabad to cater the dire need of farming community through undertaking vocational training of farmers, farm women, rural youths, training of farmers based on farm trials, so as to assess the relative and usable technologies on farmer’s field and organized FLD to promptly demonstrate the latest agricultural technologies to the farmers as well as the field level extension workers.

Agro Climatic Situation of the District:

The District is divided in to 4 Micro agro-climatic Situation viz.

  1. Low lying paddy belt.
  2. Hill area.
  3. Irrigated upland
  4. Rain fed

The total Geographical Area of the District is 3790 Square Km. the soil types are clay, clay loam, sandy, loam, sandy loam, rocky track and. The main crops of this situation are paddy, wheat, lentil, gram, pigeon pea, vegetable pea, vegetables etc.

The Instructional farm:

The KVK has total land 8.0 hector out of which 5.5 hectare under crops, orchard & agro-forestry 0.775 and remaining 1.73 hector area under building, channel and road. The KVK has also developed goatary, poultry, Agri. Engg. And vermi-compost unit imparting skill oriented training to the farmers, farm women and rural youth.

Achievements:

The KVK has taken-up all the mandate activities after considering the major thrust area of the district.

  1. Management of low land and flood prone area for rice-wheat dominated cropping system.
  2. Intensive/ multiple cropping with special reference RCT.
  3. Diversifications of existing cropping system and pattern.
  4. Emphasis on integrated forming and organic forming system.
  5. Promotion of Aonla, mango and guava.
  6. Promotion of poultry , fisheries and duck keeping.
  7. Goat keeping and milch animal rearing.
  8. Encouragement of hybrid vegetable cultivation.
  9. Encouragement of rural youth for self-employment for entrepreneurship.
