Mandate

The Indian council of agriculture research has established a network of krishi vigyan Kendra in the country aiming at assessment, refinement and demonstration of technology/sustainable product. The activities of the KVK include conducting of suitable problem solving On-farm Trial for location specific area of the district. Besides these, the technology under various farming systems i.e front line demonstration to establish the production potentials of improve technology on the farmer’s field, training of farmers to updated their knowledge and skills, training of extension personal as will as practicing farmers/farms women to orient them in the frontier areas of technology development, seed & planting material produce by the KVKs are made available to the farmers. A large number of extension programmes are organized by the KVKs to create awareness about improved technology among the farmers.

 

  1. Conducting “on farm testing” for identifying technologies in terms of location specific sustainable land use system.
  2. Organize training to update the extension personnel with emerging advances in agricultural research on regular basis.
  3. Organize short and long term vocational training courses in agricultural and allied vocational for the farmers and rural youths with emphasis on ”learning by doing” for higher production on farms and generating self employment.
  4. Organize frontline demonstrations on various crops to generate production data and feedback information
  5. Conducting on-farm testing to identify the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming systems.
  6. Organizing frontline demonstrations to establish production potential of various crops and enterprises on the farmers’ fields.
  7. Organizing need based training for farmers to update their knowledge and skills in modern agricultural technologies related to technology assessment, refinement and demonstration, and training of extension personnel to orient them in the frontier areas of technology development.
  8. Creating awareness about improved agricultural technologies among various clienteles through an appropriate extension programmes.
  9. Production of quality seeds, planting materials, livestock breeds, animal products, bio-products etc., as per the demand and supply the same to different clienteles.
  10. Work as resource and knowledge centre of Agricultural Technology to support the initiatives of public, private and voluntary sectors for improving the agricultural economy of the district.
